Relationship with Fearless

Updated: 3 days ago

We are proud to continue strengthening our relationship with Fearless, the dedicated youth service run by the independent charity Crimestoppers. Fearless provides a vital platform for young people to report concerns — not only about knife crime, but a wide range of youth-related issues — 100% anonymously.

During the week commencing 22nd September, around 50 young people and their leaders from six Surrey Police Volunteer Cadet Units, each walked 9 kilometres as part of the national “Walk 53” campaign. The initiative remembered the 53 teenage lives tragically lost to knife crime in the UK in 2024.

Supported by Fearless, each walk took place within the Cadet Unit’s local borough, helping raise awareness of both Charlie’s Promise, Fearless, and the dangers of carrying a knife. Together, the Cadets raised an incredible £1,882.50.

“At Fearless, we know young people want to speak up about crime to help make the areas they live in safer — but we also understand there are many reasons why they might not want to report it. We provide a safe place for them to pass on information about crime, 100% anonymously. We believe every young person should know our service exists, and this walk will help us raise awareness.”

Phil Jebb, Fearless Outreach Worker and Volunteer Police Cadet Leader for Elmbridge

We fully share Fearless’ belief that every young person should know about this vital service, and we continue to signpost and promote Fearless wherever possible.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Phil and Glenys Balchin, who have always been great supporters of Charlie’s Promise, and to all the young cadets and their leaders who took part in the walk. Your dedication and enthusiasm continue to make a real difference.
