Anti-Knife Crime Summit

On 19th September, Charlie’s Promise joined other families, community groups, and charities at an anti-knife crime summit organised by Joanne Davis of Owen’s World, a community organisation founded following the tragic death of 18-year-old Owen Dunn, who was stabbed in Swindon in December 2022.

The event brought together those affected by knife crime, as well as campaigners and educators working tirelessly to prevent it. Many powerful and deeply moving stories were shared throughout the day, highlighting both the devastating impact of knife crime and the determination of communities to create change.

The summit’s goal was clear — to unite people with a common purpose: to end knife crime and build a safer future for our young people.

Charlie’s Promise was honoured to share Charlie’s story and to speak about the educational programmes and outreach work we deliver to help young people make safer choices and understand the consequences of carrying knives.

We were joined by Patrick Green of The Ben Kinsella Trust, Jordan Taylor and Danyelle King, who founded Change Lives No to Knives in memory of Lee Turner, and many other inspirational individuals, each with their own powerful story to tell.

It was also encouraging to see Wiltshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson, local MPs, Swindon Borough Council, and members of the emergency services come together in solidarity to show their support and commitment to tackling this vital issue.
