A fantastic first event!
We were delighted to host our very first Charlie’s Promise Charity Golf Day at Milford Golf Club on Saturday 13th September.
A total of 84 players took part in a Fourball Stableford competition, with the best two scores to count. The day also included challenges for Nearest the Pin and Straightest Drive, adding plenty of friendly competition to the course.
Friends of Charlie’s Promise kept spirits high at Charlie’s Bar, running a Pimms Tent and soft drinks stand where golfers could enjoy a refreshing drink and purchase a tasty homemade treat. Our heartfelt thanks go to the wonderful bakers who provided a delicious selection of goodies — including cheese straws, sausage rolls, brownies, cookies and cakes.
The sun shone for most of the day, creating perfect golfing conditions, and the event concluded with a relaxed BBQ back at the clubhouse, accompanied by live music in the evening from our good friend and supporter Jack Mason. Jack performed a moving song he has written especially for Charlie’s Promise, to honour Charlie and every young person whose life has been taken too soon — and to the families who carry their memory forward with strength and love.

Guests also enjoyed a raffle which helped raise additional funds to support our ongoing work. We are so grateful to all the individuals and local businesses who generously donated prizes— your kindness made a real difference.
The day ended with a fun and very successful auction of fourball rounds of golf donated by several local clubs, plus a flexible membership at Pyrford Lakes. The auction raised nearly £1,000, adding a fantastic boost to the funds raised through the day’s activities which totalled just under £3000.
As in any charity golf day, it’s always the taking part that counts over winning (or so they say!) — but congratulations go to the winning team of Sean, Michael, Tom and Christian with their winning score of 95 points.
A huge thank you to Milford Golf Club and everyone who helped organise, collated scores, took part, volunteered, baked, donated or supported the day in any way. Your involvement helps us continue our vital work in honour of Charlie’s memory.
